
The Region of Murcia receives the Biznaga de Plata for highlighting its audiovisual industry

This morning, the Festival de Málaga presented the Biznaga de Plata to the Region of Murcia for its growing support for the audiovisual sector, its work in attracting filming and its increasing investment in the sector.
The event was presided over by the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, who was accompanied by the President of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras; the Minister for Culture and Historical Heritage of Malaga City Council, Mariana Pineda; the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Region of Murcia, Carmen Conesa; the Secretary General of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Region of Murcia, Juan Antonio Lorca; the Director General of the Instituto de Fomento of the Region of Murcia, Joaquín Gómez; and the Director General of the Instituto de las Industrias Culturales y las Artes of the Region of Murcia (ICA), Manuel Cebrián.
The mayor of the city opened the event by welcoming the large delegation from Murcia and highlighted the good work carried out by the Region of Murcia in promoting the audiovisual sector and "the efforts of all the people who work in the sector", placing the region as a territory that can host "a huge, diverse, unique and extraordinary global film set". In his speech he also echoed the success of Sorda, which competes in the Feature films Official Competition and concluded by stating that "it is a pleasure to present the Biznaga de Plata to the President of the Region of Murcia".
After receiving the award, Fernando López Miras began his speech by thanking the mayor for the recognition and congratulating him on the city's commitment to culture and film, setting it as an example of "the best of what we call Marca España". He went on to say that for the roadmap of his executive "it is a very important step to play a leading role in the Territorios section of MAFIZ" and affirmed that "today I have the immense honour of representing men and women who make sacrifices and efforts and who are making the audiovisual industry a real driving force for the Region of Murcia." He also stressed his administration's commitment to supporting local talent, and mentioned Sorda's participation in the event.
The event concluded with a family photo of the authorities in the Mirror Room of the Town Hall and another on the steps of the Town Hall, which brought together all the Murcian audiovisual professionals at the Festival de Málaga.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, at 11 am at the NH Mena, the talk "Funding keys: how to film in the Region of Murcia" will take place, in which the Minister for Culture of the Region of Murcia, Carmen Conesa, will present the advantages of audiovisual production in the region, and the privileged location and climate of the autonomous community. Finally, he took advantage of his speech to describe the public aid that the government of the Region of Murcia offers the sector.
