Spanish Screenings Content, one of the most relevant projects for the internationalisation of the Spanish audiovisual sector, held its 18th edition in 2024, as part of the "Spain Audiovisual Hub of Europe" component of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan promoted by the Ministries of Culture and Digital Transformation.
New sections were adapted to the needs of the international market. For the third consecutive year, Spanish Screenings Content had more diversity and volume of content (remakes, literary adaptations, meetings between talents and management agencies), more content (cinema, series, new formats: the audiovisual of the future) and more online/offline screens.
Spanish Screenings Content is one of the four pillars of Spanish Screenings XXL along with Spanish Screenings On Tour (which will hold its third edition in 2024 within the framework of AFM in Las Vegas), Spanish Screenings: Financing & Tech (San Sebastian Festival) and Spanish Screenings 360, a programme of active actions throughout the year which also includes the future creation of a virtual promotion and business platform.
In the last edition of 2024, Spanish Screenings Content had 708 accredited participants: 656 attended the event and 52 participated online.
More than 2,000 screenings were made.
A total of 222 Spanish productions were presented.
The international industry was able to see 84 feature films at market screenings (4 Market Premieres, 4 at Festival Official Selection - films selected at the Festival de Málaga - 21 at Remake Day, 38 at Market Screenings, 7 at Neo Screenings, 19 at Next from Spain, 11 at Regional Film Hub Films), 42 at the Film Library and 11 works in progress, including 5 at Animation Hub and 6 at Málaga Wip. In addition to the 65 short films that participated in Málaga Short Corner, an event hosted by Spanish Screenings Content for the second year running, which brought together the whole of the Spanish short film industry.
The following institutions were present: ICAA, Icex, Ibermedia, Media, Platino Industria, Canal Sur, Spain Film Commission, Malaga Film office, Ciudad de la luz.
The Regional Film Hub featured 13 autonomous communities and 14 films in the market screenings.
Spain Colorful Diversity brought together 19 film commissions under the umbrella of the Spain Film Commission.
