What documentary projects can apply for MERCADOC.0? We accept projects from directors from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal in the genres: Author Documentary, Social Media Documentary, Docu-Reality, and Investigative Documentary.
Which countries can participate? Projects must be submitted by production companies based in Latin America, Spain, or Portugal.
When will I hear back from MERCADOC.0? The final decision will be published on the organizers' website by the end of February.
Is it necessary to attach a script for a documentary project? No. For documentary projects, a treatment (maximum 20 pages) must be attached along with other required documentation.
Can a project be eligible if the director is not from one of the MERCADOC.0 countries? No. MERCADOC.0 is strategically designed to encourage co-productions between Latin America, Spain, and Portugal.
Can I submit a project that is in post-production? No. Projects must be in the development phase. Projects in the shooting or post-production phases will not be accepted.
What is the "Chain of Rights" clarification document? For documentary scripts, the chain of rights clarification is a document or contract transferring rights from the screenwriter to the producer, officially allowing the producer to use the script for a cinematic project. It must be signed by the director, producer, and screenwriter, but is not required if the screenwriter and producer are the same person.
Can a producer submit more than one project? Yes. A producer can submit up to two projects, as long as both meet the participation requirements.
Can a producer submit a project that has been presented in previous editions? No. Projects that were previously evaluated are not eligible.
