Malaga Short Corner is an initiative within the Spanish Screenings Content aimed at promoting and projecting Spanish short films internationally. Celebrating its second edition in 2024, the event brought together industry professionals, including distributors, buyers and renowned festival organisers. Its purpose is to give visibility to both young talents and established filmmakers through a selection of short films that stand out for their quality and diversity, all of them produced from the second quarter of 2023 onwards.
During the event, 17 short films were screened before representatives from more than twelve international festivals and other professionals. Of the more than 400 entries received, 65 works were selected, 8 of which were Andalusian productions, providing a varied and current vision of Spanish short films. In addition to the screenings, the event offered 8 industry activities and 10 presentations at the Málaga Short Corner Pop-up Show.
As a novelty, Málaga Short Corner presented an award for the Best Short Film of the market screenings, sponsored by Festhome. The award consisted of a free annual subscription to its festival subscription platform, further promoting the circulation of these works globally.
