SPANISH SCREENINGS ON TOUR / About Us

Spanish Screenings on Tour will hold its fourth edition in Buenos Aires (Argentina) as part of Ventana Sur, the most important market for the audiovisual industry in Latin America, which will take place from 1 to 5 December 2025. Organised by the Festival de Málaga (Malaga City Council), this initiative reinforces the commitment to the internationalisation of the Spanish audiovisual industry and generating new business opportunities in strategic territories.

Part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), Spanish Screenings on Tour is promoted by the Ministry of Culture through the ICAA and the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service through ICEX Spain Export and Investment. The programme is guided by four fundamental pillars: equality, diversity, transparency and sustainability.

Since its creation, Spanish Screenings on Tour has visited some of the main international markets: Ventana Sur 2022, MIA Rome 2023 and American Film Market Las Vegas 2024. In 2025, it returns to Buenos Aires under the slogan "Spanish Audiovisual: Creativity, Diversity and Success", consolidating Spain's presence as a European Audiovisual Hub.

Founded in 2009 and organised by the INCAA together with the Marché du Film - Cannes Film Festival, Ventana Sur is a must-attend event for buyers, distributors and professionals from all over the world. In its most recent edition, the Uruguayan Film and Audiovisual Agency (ACAU) joined its forces, broadening its regional scope. Every year, the market brings together over 2,000 accredited visitors and more than 150 international buyers and sellers, as well as representatives from large chains, platforms and production companies. Its programme includes business rounds, pitching sessions, one-to-one meetings, round tables, workshops and conferences on sector trends. In 2025, Ventana Sur is entering a new phase, with a renewed brand and updated sections, reaffirming itself as a key meeting point for the Ibero-American industry.

Spanish Screenings on Tour will hold a full day of work on 4 December, aimed at professionals with projects at different stages of development and production.

The day will start at 10 am with "Talent in action. A perfect morning", a space that will bring together the winning creators of Hack Málaga with renowned Spanish audiovisual companies: Latido Films, Filmax, Film Factory, Bendita Films, Begin Again, Sideral and Cinema Republic, which will present an exclusive preview of Spanish cinema planned for 2026.

After a networking break, the afternoon will continue with "Spain in co-production: an afternoon of creative exchange". Journalist John Hopwell (Variety) will talk to María Luisa Gutiérrez, producer and founder of Bowfinger, the company responsible for some of Spain's biggest box-office hits. Gutiérrez will then join Agustín Bossi (Pampa Films) in the case study "Uniting creativities: co-produce with Spain", where they will analyse strategies and benefits of co-productions between Argentina and Spain.
Two simultaneous workshops will then be held, with Francisco Menéndez and Sidney Borjas, aimed at projects selected in the different sections of Ventana Sur 2025. These workshops will offer practical and key tools on intellectual property, new legislation, development strategies and co-production models between Spain and other territories.

The day will conclude with the announcement of the projects selected for MAFF - Málaga Fund & Coproduction Event, attended by Camilo Vázquez (ICAA); Ralph Haiek, Executive Director of Ventana Sur; and Juan Antonio Vigar, Director of the Festival de Málaga.

Spanish Screenings on Tour 2025 is thus consolidated as a unique opportunity to boost the visibility, circulation and co-production possibilities of Spanish audiovisuals in one of the most influential markets in the world, reaffirming Festival de Málaga's commitment to strengthening the industry and building bridges between Spain, Latin America and the rest of the global scene.
