MERCADOC.0, the new section of MAFIZ, the industry area of the Malaga Festival, will be held between the 18th and 21st of March. A total of fourteen documentary projects have been selected, six from Latin America and eight from Spain, including two from the Zona Málaga and a third from the Region of Murcia, this year’s Territorios protagonist.
The filmmakers in charge of the projects will have the opportunity to present them to an audience of professionals and representatives of journalistic media, platforms and television networks. In addition, a training programme has been designed to focus on creative and financial aspects to accompany the filmmakers in the process of generating viable and quality documentary projects with possibilities of internationalisation. It will consist of a seminar about audiences led by Mauricio Cabrera, advisor of business and content strategy, and two case studies whose content will be announced soon, open to project representatives and accreditation holders.
The selection process was carried out by Annabelle Aramburu, coordinator of MAFIZ, Leonardo Ordóñez, general manager of the Santiago Creativo Foundation, and Walter Tiepelmann, Industry Director of FIDBA and producer. The sustainability strategies of the projects were considered in the process, since Mercadoc.0 also aims to promote initiatives that incorporate responsible practices from the development stage.
