Families gather at La Villa del Mar to remember the past and discover the future of the audiovisual sector

The first weekend of the Festival de Málaga has unfolded various activities for all audiences on Malagueta beach with a large number of visitors

Malagueta beach has been a party during the first weekend of the Festival de Málaga. The programme at La Villa del Mar, the Festival de Málaga space organised by Malaga City Council through Malaga Procultura, has offered a series of activities that have brought together a multitude of families to enjoy concerts, share the history of cinema and video games, and get a glimpse at the future of entertainment.

In the wake of the 40th anniversary of the Goya Awards, Sunday paid tribute to the history of Spanish cinema with a Trivia game to test the knowledge of attendees. Nostalgia also showed up on Saturday in the field of video games with a session dedicated to the first adaptations to film format, which was completed in the Experiential Zone with the chance to discover new titles developed by creators from Malaga.

Many of the weekend’s activities were held at this space. Generative video and virtual reality exhibits attracted large numbers of visitors to enjoy the future of entertainment.

In this dialogue between legacy and avant-garde, El rock en el cine concerts revived the most iconic film soundtracks with an electric beat. Performances by Las Dianas and García Picasso consolidated the festival's commitment to emerging talent, presenting fresh proposals from artists to keep an eye on in the coming years.

Focusing on the evolution of the audiovisual sector, there were workshops on comic and manga character design, and sessions on storytelling and video creation with AI by Janto Fernández from AI Storytelling Modester Academy, discussing the importance of the 'prompt' when generating content and presenting the most useful and accessible tools.

All talks and interviews with experts are available on the YouTube channel: Málaga Audiovisual Tech.

A Monday to imagine the stories of the future

On 9 March, La Villa del Mar will become an innovation laboratory dedicated to the tools that are transforming the sector, with a round table organised by Google and the presentation of vertical format series 'TILF', by Argentinian actress Gimena Accardi.

The programme is available on the Festival website.

La Villa del Mar is organised by the Festival de Málaga in collaboration with El Polo Digital and the Ministry of Culture, and is sponsored by Google and Olin.
