The Festival de Málaga, in collaboration with Abycine Lanza, as part of the joint project 'El Impulso', is today launching the call for entries for Malaga Work in Progress. This event is part of its MAFIZ (Malaga Festival Industry Zone) and is aimed at Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American projects. The aim is to consolidate the festival's commitment to the diversity of identities and languages within the Ibero-American sphere and its audiovisual industry.
Málaga WIP is organised by Malaga City Council and Festival de Málaga in collaboration with the ICAA (Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Visual Arts), CAACI (Conference of Ibero-American Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities), IBERMEDIA, FIPCA (Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers) and Abycine Lanza.
It will take place from 10 to 13 March 2026 as part of the 29th Festival de Málaga. Project registration can be done online until 15 January 2026 on the MAFIZ website. The selected projects will be announced in February.
Malaga WIP, which celebrates its ninth edition in 2026, aims to boost financing of films by presenting projects to leading industry professionals; promote and disseminate films; support the completion of films in post-production; and facilitate their distribution.
It comprises two different initiatives:
• Málaga WIP España - El Impulso, featuring six Spanish titles.
• Málaga WIP Iberoamerica, featuring six Ibero-American titles (Latin America and Portugal).
