On Tuesday 18 March, the Festival de Málaga and its director Juan Antonio Vigar saw the presentation of the programme for the First National Meeting of Film Festivals, to be held in Zaragoza between 16 and 18 Junio this year.
The event outlined the main lines of the activities planned for this new initiative, which aims to bring together festivals and film sector professionals from all over Spain to promote dialogue, collaboration and the strengthening of the country's audiovisual industry.
Juan Antonio Vigar opened the event by stressing that the meeting in Zaragoza will serve to address the reality of events that need greater support from institutions and a search for new resources. He claimed that festivals are a fundamental part of the cultural fabric as they work on training, exhibition and industry.
Meanwhile, José Antonio Aguilar, president of the Network of Film Festivals and Exhibitions of Aragon (AraFilmFest), said to be able to share the seed of the idea that has been in the making for so long will be one of the best experiences.
The presentation was attended by representatives from the institutions organising the event: Deputy Director for Promotion and International Relations of the ICAA, Camilo Vázquez; Director General of Culture of the Government of Aragon, Pedro Olloqui; Deputy for Culture at Zaragoza Provincial Council, Charo Lázaro; Councillor for Culture at Zaragoza City Council, Sara Fernández; Director General of the Corporación Aragonesa de Radio y Televisión, Raquel Fuertes and president of the 'Pantalla' Federation, Cristina Gómez.
