Industry Talks completes the programme of Spanish Screenings Content in MAFIZ, the industry area of Festival de Málaga

New in 2024, the lectures and conferences of the initiative will be unified under the same label

Spanish Screenings is framed within the 'Spain Audiovisual Hub of Europe', of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, promoted by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry for Digital Transformation and of Civil Service

Spanish Screenings Content completes its programme with a series of talks that this year are grouped under the name Industry Talks. The initiative will include the Málaga Short Corner round tables, the Spain Scorecom conference on music in audiovisuals, the Singapore co-production Keynote, the presentation of the Quirino Awards and the Women Screen Industry Awards.

Industry Talks is a space for the exchange of ideas between emerging talents, experts, and professionals from the audiovisual industry to broaden their perspective on topics such as the functioning of film festivals, the international market, financing, and gender perspective.

The Málaga Short Corner section, which will present 65 short films to an audience of professionals and representatives of international festivals specialising in the format, will be complemented by Industry Talks related to this section, from the 4th to the 6th of March at the Cajamar auditorium. These meetings will deal with current issues that affect the short film industry, such as the debate that has arisen around the changes concerning the short list for the Goya awards, as well as training on selection and financing processes and the latest trends in the genre.

In addition, on the 4th of March, a talk will be held on the keys to co-producing with Singapore, an Asian country that offers a diversity of productions for the international market.

Industry Talks also has a space for original music by Spain Scorecom. Thus, the importance of music in the audiovisual world will be highlighted, with a masterclass led by music supervisor Paty Carrera, representative of the collaborating company Acorde, together with composers Paloma Peñarrubia and Arturo Olea, who will offer information and advice on the use of music in film. A selection of both established and emerging composers and a sample of their work is available on the spanishscreenings.online website.

On the 8th of March, Women's Day, an Industry Talk on the work of women in festival industry departments has been organised. It will have the presence of Francesca Palleschi from MIA Market (Italy), Daria Voumard from Locarno Pro (Switzerland) and Weronika Czolnowska from New Horizons International Film Festival (Poland).

The programme will close with the presentation and reading of the finalists of the Quirino Awards 2024, which will be held in May in Tenerife. This brings to an end a traditional and renewed format, with the presence of relevant figures from the audiovisual industry who offer an overview of the current situation and put forward proposals for the future.

Spanish Screenings Content is one of the four axes of Spanish Screenings XXL along with Spanish Screenings On Tour, Spanish Screenings: Financing & Tech (at the San Sebastian Festival) abd Spanish Screenings 360, a programme of active actions throughout the year that also includes a monthly podcast available on all platforms, and the future creation of a virtual promotion and business platform.

‘Spanish Screenings XXL, an international market for Spanish audiovisual production’ is a project involving the Ministry of Culture through the ICAA, the Ministry for Digital Transformation and of Civil Service, ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, Festival de Málaga and the San Sebastian Festival.
