Ana Pascal is a visual, intimate, and political documentary about Panama’s first female world boxing champion, now facing old age and oblivion. Briefly celebrated and then erased for defying gender, race, and class stereotypes, Pascal resists by training and passing her legacy to new generations. Her body, marked by the ring and life, holds the memory of a constant struggle to exist with dignity. At 64, she dreams of returning to the United States to visit her mother’s grave. A story of resistance, memory, and the strength of being oneself in the face of oblivion.

Screenwriter, producer, and director, graduated in Film Production from the International Film and TV School of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba (2017). She has directed socially impactful projects such as Hogar de la Infancia, winner of the Documental Panamá award by TVN, and Un lugar seguro, made for the International Coalition of Women and Families (CIMUF). She is currently in postproduction of her first feature documentary, Nosotras las niñas, winner of the 2021 Fondo Cine Panamá and the Fondo Su Mirada award. She has also worked on human rights and Afro-migration projects such as Migrantes por el Darién for AFRORESISTANCE.

Genesis Bonilla Alemán is a Venezuelan producer with extensive experience in film, specializing in production, location coordination, and assistant directing. She has produced the Panama International Human Rights Film Festival, Bannabáfest. She has participated in feature films such as Brown, Me Dicen el Panzer, Querido Trópico, and La Cordillera, as well as shorts like Hogar de la Infancia, Pesca, Juega vivo, and El Silencio que escondemos.
