Ame, a 12-year-old girl obsessed with her video camera, records the annual pig slaughter at her family’s country house, a tradition that brings the family together once a year. What begins as a playful documentary exercise gradually turns into an intimate portrait of a family under strain. Through her camera, Ame captures fragments of adult life she cannot fully understand: a father clinging to appearances, a mother silently holding everything together, a grandfather rooted in tradition, and a grandmother whose devotion has left little space for herself. Between sausage-making, family jokes and shared meals, unspoken tensions and inherited roles surface. As the day unfolds, Ame begins to glimpse the first cracks in the world she thought she knew.
María José Martín Barcelona and Cristina Martín Barcelona and are sisters born in Granada and co-founders of the production company Lasdelcine Producciones Audiovisuales, created in 2013 to develop author-driven projects. Their first feature documentary, En Granada es posible, co-produced by Canal Sur RTV, was selected at festivals such as the Guadalajara International Film Festival (Mexico) and Festival Alcances de Cádiz. They have since directed several documentaries, including Jorge, una travesía de Coque Malla, candidated for the Goya Awards 2023, as well as fiction short films such as Mi hermano Juan, De menos and La Fuerza, all widely awarded and selected at major national and international festivals. Their recent selection for the Berlinale Visitors Programme 2026 marks a key step in their international professional trajectory.
