Twenty young content creators from ten countries are the winners who have overcome the previous creative challenges. They will participate in Hack MAFIZ Malaga in the framework of MAFIZ, the industry area of the Malaga Festival and part of Spanish Screenings Content. During their stay in Malaga, they will have the opportunity to receive training and mentoring from technology companies, media agencies and platforms.
The winners (see list at the end of the article) have been chosen from 10,000 entries from 22 countries, who have had to solve three online challenges between October and January. They will be able to participate in MAFIZ and Malaga Festival activities, like any other accredited professional.
Based on their experience during these intense days, they will have to face a last challenge. It will consist of creating a self-promotional piece, a video curriculum, which will be screened at the closing ceremony of the section on the 7th of March. They will also have to agree on a collective challenge.
Moreover, they will have access to personalised tutoring in charge of representatives from platforms, streaming services and technology companies. To date, Disney, Google, Paramount, and YouTube have confirmed their attendance, among others. The aim is to create its own space for training and exchange of ideas, designed for its creative profile.
With Hack MAFIZ, Festival de Málaga faces the industry’s challenge of reaching new audiences, who consume audiovisual content through very diverse channels and who have a community identity that requires a much more active dialogue between creators and content producers. The event thus seeks new spaces to regenerate audiences and dialogue with them and with the creators with whom they identify. Hack MAFIZ Malaga was created with this priority objective in mind, to offer the opportunity to make room for these creators, to meet them and see them in action, to make them coexist in a space of synergies with the different agents of the audiovisual industry.
Digital creators bring innovation to the production of content and in the field of distribution and editorial positioning to their community. Knowing and sharing their experience and knowledge opens a window to a differential and synergistic view of the new business models based on social media. Portability, fragmentation, co-creation, collaboration, self-distribution, monetisation and new narratives, among others, are key aspects in the identity of these new creators and also of the event that will bring them together in Malaga.
The participants of Hack MAFIZ Malaga 2024 are from different countries. From Argentina they are: Franco Blanco Lozano, Gastón Obeide, Malena Cocozella and Mariana Hermida. María Belen Valverde Quispe is from Bolivia, and Sebastián Cadena Valverde from Ecuador. Colombia has two participants: Luisa Correa Aristizabal and Neider Arley Canticus Gaviria. The Spanish hackers are: Juan San Vicente, Fernanda Garrido, Sara Granés, Carlos González, José Luis Lucas Villa and María Gómez Bellido. José Ramón Pico González and María Cárdenas are from Mexico.
