The Spanish productions will be presented within the framework of Málaga WIP Spain which is part of the Spanish Screenings Content
Spanish Screenings is framed within the 'Spain Audiovisual Hub of Europe', of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, promoted by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry for Digital Transformation and of Civil Service
The 7th edition of Málaga Work in Progress, the MAFIZ section for Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American films to be held from the 4th to the 8th of March, has selected fifteen titles from six countries in the post-production phase. The films will be presented to an audience of accredited professionals at the Malaga Festival, such as sales agents, festival programmers, international funds or producers, to support their completion and encourage their international dissemination and promotion. For the third year, Spanish productions, under the Málaga WIP Spain label, are part of Spanish Screenings Content.
The filmmakers in charge of the films will have the opportunity to defend them in pitch format after their screening and to arrange meetings with potential partners. The aim of Málaga WIP is to seal the commitment to the diversity of identities and languages in Latin America and its audiovisual industry.
As an innovation, this year Festival de Málaga has created the label Malaga con…, a programme of exhibitions of works in progress, organised in collaboration with the industry area of Latin American festivals. The initiative starts with the collaboration with FICVIÑA (Viña del Mar International Film Festival) and will consist of a session in which four feature films in post-production will be presented by their crews.
Lastly, Paraguay, the guest country at Latinamerican Focus, will present two films.
Participants will also be able to take advantage of online mentoring in editing and programming tasks, which will be complemented with face-to-face meetings in Malaga. The Argentine director, screenwriter and editor Alejandra Almirón, the French filmmaker and editor Marine de Contes and the Argentine critic and programmer Roger Koza are the tutors of this edition.
Malaga WIP is organised by the Malaga City Council, Málaga Procultura and Festival de Málaga in collaboration with ICAA (Spanish Film and Audiovisual Arts Institute), CAACI (Conference of Ibero-American Cinematographic Authorities), IBERMEDIA and FIPCA (Ibero-American Federation of Film and Audiovisual Producers).
