Hugo is 23 years old and has yet to grow up. On the eve of his 24th birthday, he is forced to face adulthood: unemployed but hopeful, he heads to an interview at a real estate agency, a dream job that would allow him to wear a suit, a constant reminder of his absent father. He carries a deep-seated fear of abandonment: his mother is in prison, his girlfriend is leaving him, and his family is falling apart. When his landlord threatens to evict him within 24 hours, Hugo begins a race against time that will mark his definitive transition into adulthood.
A director of both Spanish and English heritage, he has emerged as a fresh voice in contemporary cinema. With a background in advertising, he seamlessly blends visual and musical styles in his debut feature, Libélulas (released in 2022 and an award-winner at the Málaga Film Festival). While his characters and tone are distinctly Spanish, his universal landscapes explore themes of crisis, uncertainty, and youth.
