Synopsis
In the city of Lima, Rosa is the teacher of those who make a living from the garbage and occupy the hole of a construction site that was abandoned during the financial collapse. Organised by Samuel, her partner, the group works in the plastic recycling. One night, inside of a garbage bag, he finds the dead body of a foetus which, despite the aversion of the group, Rosa adopts as a protective amulet against the relentless forces that haunt them.

Ricardo Yui is a Peruvian Filmmaker based in Lima and Amsterdam. He holds the Master of Arts degree from ENSP Arles.
Having produced, written and directed five short films, his projects have been supported by institutions such as Institut Français (FR), AFK (NL), Ibermedia (ES). The National Film Fund DAFO (PE) has awarded him twice, the Short Film Award for CONTINUIDAD (2018) ; and the Production Grant for Feature Film for DEVENIR (2020).
He develops his first feature film project, DEVENIR.

Objectives to be achieved
MAFIZ would represent a mayor support for DEVENIR, in this development stage. Financially and institutionally, it would open doors to find the ideal Spanish co-producer partner with whom work together in the post-production and/or distribution stage. The IBERMEDIA fund would be our partnership goal.
Co-production´s interesting countries
DEVENIR is a Peruvian film, in which the Dutch company RXYX has invested in the early development stage. Currently, we have a co-production project with the Belgium company NEED Productions. Our goal is to achieve an Ibero-American co-production partnership for exchanging creative and technical expertise with peers from Spain, Mexico and Argentina. The coWriter is Argentinean, the score composer is Mexican, and hopefully the post-production would be a Spanish signature.
