The Basque mountains, 17th century. Amidst the witch hunts, Kattalin flees from her husband, abandoning the farmhouse in the middle of the night. Lost in the darkness of the forest, she senses a presence stalking her. Along the way, she encounters three women washing clothes by the river, sharing scary tales and village gossip. To her astonishment, Kattalin will end up becoming part of those very stories.
Paul Urkijo
Paul Urkijo Alijo is a Basque director and screenwriter born in Vitoria-Gasteiz in 1984. A Fine Arts graduate with a passion for mythology and the fantastic genre, he began his career directing acclaimed short films. He made his feature debut with Errementari (The Blacksmith and the Devil), based on Basque folklore. His second film, the epic Irati, became the most-watched Basque-language film in history. His latest work is Gaua.
