Schedule
After years abroad, Amber returns to Malaysia seeking closure with her former lover, Jun. But the place she finds no longer resembles the one held in her memory. When she finally tracks her down, Jun claims they have never met. So begins a tense cat-and-mouse game through the streets of a Kuala Lumpur in a perpetual struggle against the surrounding jungle, a journey where both women will be forced to confront who they are... or perhaps, who they are not.
Gwai Lou
Gwai Lou, Cantonese for "foreign devil", is the professional pseudonym of filmmaker, writer, and visual artist David Yáñez, who has been based in Malaysia since 2016. His work, much like his pseudonym, reflects his experience as an immigrant and his fluid cultural identity. Having left his small town in Extremadura at the age of 17, he has lived as an immigrant ever since, making films wherever he resides with the same urgency with which he experiences life.
