Fernando Pérez, Jorge A. Lara
Fernando Pérez Valdés is a prominent Cuban filmmaker and writer born in Havana in 1944. A graduate in Hispanic Language and Literature, he began his career in the 1960s as an assistant director before establishing himself as a documentarian. His feature debut, Clandestinos, earned him widespread critical acclaim. He is known for masterpieces such as Life is to Whistle and Havana Suite, and was awarded Cuba's National Film Award in 2007. His most recent work is The Righteous, co-directed with Jorge A. Lara.
Jorge A. Lara is a Spanish screenwriter and director born in Zaragoza in 1974. After starting in local television, he joined Globomedia, working on hit series such as Paco's Men and Aída. He transitioned to cinema with the successful adaptation Zipi & Zape and the Marble Gang, which earned a Goya nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. He also wrote the box office hit Now or Never. After a successful career as a screenwriter, he made his directorial debut with the feature film The Righteous.
