Mahatua Producciones is an independent audiovisual production company founded in 1993 by Rapa Nui filmmaker Leonardo Pakarati, later joined by historian and producer Paula Rossetti. Its work focuses on memory, identity, and the historical processes of Rapa Nui, from a local and situated perspective. The company has produced documentaries such as Te Kuhane o te Tupuna (the spirit of the ancestors) and is currently premiering Ŋa Hinarere (The Children). Its films explore the legacies of colonialism, living genealogies, and cultural transformations, contributing a distinctive voice to Pacific cinema.
