After a youth shaped by limitations, Vilma (45) finally lives the life of luxury she once dreamed of in a beachfront house in one of Costa Rica’s most exclusive tourist enclaves. Alone, she awaits her American partner, the source of her comfort, but he never arrives and cuts off all communication. As the money runs out, she’s forced to face paradise without her Prince Charming.

Graduate of the Production Program at the International School of Film and Television (EICTV, Cuba), as well as Audiovisual Production and Advertising at the University of Costa Rica (UCR), she has built her career around bold, auteur-driven cinema from Central America. Her first feature as a producer, Domingo and the Mist, directed by Ariel Escalante, became the first Central American film selected for Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival in 2022. She is the producer and co-writer of Bye Bye, Paraíso (CR–URU–COL) and the producer of El Pan de Cada Día (CR–MX), both directed by Costa Rican filmmaker Kim Elizondo Navarro, continuing her commitment to intimate, regionally rooted stories with international resonance. |
