Objectives to be achieved
Participating in MAFF represents a tremendous opportunity for growth for us and this project. We see participation as a chance to find strategic partners who can help us secure funding for the film.
This is an atypical Cuban film, which, although set in 1962 during the missile crisis, remains entirely relevant given the current political and human conflicts within the country. Our main goal is to connect with the European film industry and find a Spanish co-producer to finalize the co-production and financial arrangements.
We are very interested in having these one-on-one meetings where we can discuss the project with industry professionals, learn their perspectives, and receive their input to help the project develop.
We also want to explore all aspects of distribution by contacting potential sales agents.
Co-production´s interesting countries
We currently have a co-production planned between Cuba, Mexico, and Colombia. Our desire is to add a European co-producer, preferably Spanish. The reasons justifying this arrangement relate to the artistic/technical coherence and financial viability of the project. Letargia is directed by a Cuban/Spanish filmmaker and is (initially) being filmed in the Cuban countryside. Both main producers are Cuban, but we are based in Mexico and Colombia. Cuba has a long tradition of co-production with Spain, so there is a deep understanding of both industries, and we have produced some very successful films.
